Elder Trezise continues to struggle. Quarantine has taken its toll. He is an amazing missionary and especially loves meeting and serving people. Our family continues to pray for him. Here is his letter from this week:
Hey,
I figured I'd send a short email just to fill everybody in on
how things are here. It's tough being quarantined, and I'm kind of sick
of pretending like it's easy. It's not. Most days I feel like I'd be a
more effective missionary at home than here. But we're still getting
stuff done. We're only teaching a handful of people, but they're
progressing well, and things are okay. I got a new companion, Elder
Nolan. He's reassigned from Peru, and is a fun guy.
This morning I listened to a song I love called 'Saturn.' The lyrics of the song say,
"You taught me the courage of stars, before you left
How light carries on endlessly, even after death
With shortness of breath, you explained the infinite
How rare and beautiful it is, to even exist
I couldn't help but ask
For you to say it all again
I tried to write it down
But I could never find a pen
I'd give anything to hear
You say it one more time
That the universe was made
Just to be seen by my eyes
I couldn't help but ask
For you to say it all again
I tried to write it down
But I could never find a pen
I'd give anything to hear
You say it one more time
That the universe was made
Just to be seen by my eyes
With shortness of breath, I'll explain the infinite
How rare and beautiful it truly is that we exist."
And
I thought a lot about that as I listened. It truly is amazing the gift
that our Heavenly Father has given us. We have the opportunity to live
every single day, to enjoy everything around us. Yes, there's a lot of
evil and negativity in the world, but there's so much more good. Think
about the beauty all around you. All the amazing experiences you have
each and every day. God gave all of that to us. He gave it to us to
allow us to see how amazing life is. He created all of this for us. The
universe truly was made just to be seen by our eyes. And I for one am so
grateful for the amazing gift He has given me of life. The amazing
things I get to enjoy daily because of Him. So just ponder how you can
show gratitude to your Heavenly Father. How you can show your
appreciation for the amazing gifts He has given you. I love you all and
will see you in 40 or so days :)
