Sept. 11, 2018

From Ben (in response to my letter to him):

Hey guys!  So just a few things right off the bat, yes, you can send pictures, my departure date is September 26th, and I would love it if you could send that camera, and a laundry bag to hold my dirty clothes in.  Also, I did get the dry cleaning email*.  I love and miss you guys alot, but in all honesty I have never been happier in my entire life.  I study the gospel and feel the spirit roughly 13-14 hours a day.  I get along with and absolutely love all of my district.  I have learned more about the gospel and more about myself in the past week than I have learned before.  You should see my annotations of the first Book of Nephi and of Preach my Gospel.  I have realized how many hidden truths and messages are hidden in the scriptures.  If you search diligently enough you can find truth in literally every verse.  Yes, even 1st Nephi 2:15.  But, despite how much I've changed I'm still the same old Ben.  I have gotten everyone in my district, and a few Elders and Sisters outside of my district with Chickenbutt.  I am loving my time in the MTC, and I love the updates of what's going on at home.  I can't wait to hear from you all again.  I would invite you to read the scriptures more diligently.  Miss you guys and love you guys so much.

*I had emailed him making sure he knew not to wash his suits - they need to be dry cleaned

His room at the MTC

Ben was fascinated with the murals at the MTC.  He sent numerous pictures of them.

View from the MTC- he thought there was a big fire outside.

Later in the day Ben sent us another email:

Hey mom, and hey family.  I love you guys so so much.  I just got out of doing endowments in the Provo temple with my district, and it was amazing.  I have an experience to share with you.  I got here Wednesday afternoon around 1 or 1:30.  I bounced around from class to class until 9 pm and by the time I made it back to the dorm I felt exhausted, beaten and alone.  I hadn't developed any friendships with my district yet, except District Leader Goodman because he is also from Chandler, AZ.  I went to bed with doubts in my head about doing this for 2 years.  I woke up the next morning at 6:30, after a night of hardly any sleep, and I got on my knees and prayed.  I prayed for knowledge.  That i would be able to know that what I am doing is right.  I prayed for strength.  To carry on even though this is difficult.  I instantly felt the Spirit and began to cry.  I testify of the truth of this gospel.  I testify that God loves each of us, and is there for us when we need Him.  I love you all so much and miss you.
Love,
Elder Trezise

This email was hard for me to read - thinking my son felt so alone but after reading it numerous times I felt so thankful for a Heavenly Father who hears and answers prayers.
