Quarantine Hair
Elder Trezise and some of his District

Elder Trezise and Elder Moore were able to go to Rigby to help with Elder Smith's sister's wedding.  Here are some pictures of the day:

Elder Trezise and Elder Smith
I was able to speak with Elder Trezise a few times this week.  On P-day, on Thursday and on the fourth.  We had some good talks.  The Mission President allowed him and Elder Moore to go to Rigby to help with Elder Smith's sister's wedding.  They were so excited to see Elder Smith.  Elder Trezise said it was one of the best days of his mission.

Here is his email for the week:

Hola familia!

Life is good here in Sugar City Idaho. It got super cold yesterday so we took advantage of that by opening all the windows and blasting all the fans. It was 53 degrees in the apartment when we woke up and around 49 in our bedroom. Good stuff.

This week went by super fast, honestly all of them are right now. But we were able to make a lot of calls, and have some potential people we can start teaching lined up for this week now. We also were able to have a baptism this weekend. The girls name is Niah (pronounced like Naya). She is 9, is super smart, and LOVES the Gospel. It's so awesome. Elder Moore and I are getting along super well, and things are going relatively smoothly.

I was able to listen to a talk this week by Mervyn B. Arnold, given in April of 2004. The talks name is, "Strengthen the Brethren." In the talk Brother Arnold tells of a man, José Marques. Brother Marques was a member of the branch presidency of a branch in Brazil a long time ago, and he decided to make the most of his calling, and magnify it. So he, along with some other Priesthood leaders made a plan to activate the less active members of the branch. Brother Marques was assigned one Fernando Araujio. Fernando was a teenage boy who stopped going to church because he became involved in Sunday surfing competitions. Brother Marques showed up at his door Sunday morning, to have it answered by his nonmember mother. His mother told Brother Marques Fernando was sleeping, and Brother Marques asked for permission to go wake him up. He went to his room, and said, "Fernando, you are late for church!" Be drug him to church despite his excuses.

This continued week after week, and Fernando couldn't get away. So after a few Sundays Fernando decided to wake up early and sneak out. He stepped outside the house to find Brother Marques sitting on his car reading a book outside his house. Again, Brother Marques took him to church. Fernando himself, looking back on the following weeks said, "After eight Sundays I could not get rid of him, so I decided to sleep at a friend’s house. I was at the beach the next morning when I saw a man dressed in a suit and tie walking towards me. When I saw that it was Brother Marques, I ran into the water. All of a sudden, I felt someone’s hand on my shoulder. It was Brother Marques, in water up to his chest! He took me by the hand and said, ‘You are late! Let’s go.’ When I argued that I didn’t have any clothes to wear, he replied, ‘They are in the car.’

“That day as we walked out of the ocean, I was touched by Brother Marques’s sincere love and worry for me. He truly understood the Savior’s words: ‘I will seek that which was lost, and bring again that which was driven away, and will bind up that which was broken, and will strengthen that which was sick’ Brother Marques didn’t just give me a ride to church—the quorum made sure I remained active. They planned activities that made me feel needed and wanted, I received a calling, and the quorum members became my friends."
Brother Fernando Araujio went on to serve a full-time mission and has served as bishop, stake president, mission president, and regional representative.

His life was changed because of one man who decided to help. Because one person decided to try to improve another's life. That's what the Gospel is all about. That's the whole point. Fernando was probably happy enough with his surfing competitions and the life he was living. But Fernando wasn't as happy as he COULD be. He was living beneath his privileges. He was living without the Gospel of Jesus Christ. And there are plenty all around us who are the same. Who are doing fine, living good lives, who are relatively happy. But are we living up to the divine potential we have? Because that potential is fulfilled in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
So please, reach out to those in need. I'm not asking you to show up at someone's door every Sunday, and force them to go to church. I'm just asking you to make simple invitations. Bear your testimony on the power of prayer, or the Book of Mormon, or Sabbath day worship, and invite them to participate WITH you. Invite them to come and see what the church, the Gospel, and the Savior are all about.

I love each of you. I pray for each of you. And I want to help you live your life to the fullest. I hope you can feel my love for you, but more importantly, I hope you can feel the Saviors infinite love for you.

-Elder Trezise
