I got to speak with Elder Trezise a few times this week (Mother's Day, P-day and Thursday). He seems to be doing really well except for the fact that they are still limited as to what they can do. He is able to go into homes to give discussions/lessons so that's good. Here is his email:
Hello family!
This week has been AWESOME! I really, really like
Elder Moore. We get along super well and agree on a lot of things. I
don't really have too much to report on this week. Kind of just a lot of
getting to know Elder Moore. We have had some super in depth
conversations that have been awesome though.
We talked in
depth about 40 different topics, but the one I keep coming back to stems
from a quote by President Monson which says, "Never let a problem to be
solved become more important than a person to be loved."
That
seems to be the thing I'm seeing the most of right now. There's
problems all around us, and everyone seems to be prioritizing problems. I
saw it so much as an Assistant, and am kind of sick of it. I can't
control what everybody else does, but I know I can make sure those
around me feel loved. And feel more important than the problem. That's
the whole point of the Gospel! I saw a video a loooonnnng time ago that
stuck with me. It's a Christian man talking about Pilate, and Jesus, and
Barabus up on the platform, and Barabus is freed. And he goes back down
to the crowd, so happy to be free, and so unaware that Christ freed
him. We all look at Barabus with scorn. But we are Barabus. We're up on
that platform with all of our mistakes, and with Christ next to us. And
He takes it for us each time. He goes to the cross each time. We step
down each time.
Why?!?! We deserve it. We deserve to be up there. Have
you ever made a huge mistake and thought to yourself, I deserve to be in
pain, or I deserve punishment for this? I have. But Christ takes the
pain and the punishment. Even when we deserve it. And that's the whole
point. There's a problem with the equation as we stand up there. Christ
is perfect and has never sinned. We are not. And yet He's the one who
goes and dies for it! Why?! Because He loves us! He loves us so much! He
didn't care about the problem with the equation. He didn't let the
problem to be solved become more important than the person to be loved.
He didn't let it become more important than us. Because to Him, we are
everything. And to each other, we should be everything as well. Stand up
for truth. Stand up for right. Even when it's hard. Do the right thing.
Love the people around you and stop looking at the problems to be
solved.
I love each of you and pray that each of us together can strive to be more like the Savior!
-Elder Trezise
