Hello family!!! Sorry if this email is shorter, it's transfer week and I kinda don't get a P-Day today. But other than the fact that it's been an INSANE week, I'm doing great.
I'm beginning to feel adjusted to
my new calling and am actually doing really well. I feel happy, and
office work is beginning to feel productive. We also got a little bit of
proselyting and we invited EVERYBODY to church this week. On Sunday we
had 9 people we are teaching come to church, which is the most this area
has ever had at Sacrament. So that was super awesome! In other news,
Elder Legas is leaving. He is going to be transferred to Rexburg on
Thursday and will be a Zone Leader there. I'm going on exchanges with
him next transfer, so I am super excited about that.
This
week I learned a lot about trusting promptings. At one point in the week
I had a prompting to visit a lady we are teaching named Jackie. She is
the sweetest old lady ever! However, we had NO TIME to visit her. We
were heading over to President's house for an all day transfer meeting,
and had to be there in 10 minutes. It was an 8 minute drive. But I felt
the prompting again, and asked my companions if we could just stop by
for a minute. They reminded me of the time limitations, but we went.
Turns out, she had set a goal to quit smoking by that day, and was
really struggling. We gave her some encouragement, and she made it
through the day. It was so cool! Later in the week we again, had no time
to proselyte, but Elder Legas strongly felt like we should visit a
house he had knocked previously. He was confused though because last
time he knocked, the lady was extremely anti. This time a kid answered.
His name is Gabe. He is a teenager who's going through a ton of
struggles right now. We shared some of our unique message with him, and
the Spirit touched his heart. He committed to come to church and read
from the Book of Mormon. It was AMAZING! I am so grateful for the love
Heavenly Father has for each of us. He wants to help us. He wants to
bless us. And He uses His children to do that. Rarely does God send
signs, miracles, or visions. "When ye are in the service of your fellow
beings, you are only in the service of your God." Don't overlook the
simple acts of kindness others do for you. Don't write it off as just
somebody being nice. God wants to bless us, and wants to help us. And He
wants us to become like Him. God's purpose is "to bring to pass the
immortality and eternal life of man." If we are to become like Him we
must desire this also. Our purpose HAS to be His purpose. Now, this
isn't just a sudden change we make. Aligning our will with God's takes
time. More than a lifetime. Don't try to be perfect. Don't expect to be
perfect. Just try your best each and every day to do the things you feel
will please God. The things you feel He wants you to do.
I
love each of you. I am so incredibly grateful for this Gospel. I wish
you could see the things I see. The Gospel changes lives. It takes
people from the dark pits of despair and brings them into the light. It
lifts them from the pitfalls of everyday life. And it is so, so amazing.
I love my Savior so much. And He loves us even more. I know this church
is true. I know Joseph Smith was a prophet of God, and this is the true
Church of Jesus Christ on the Earth today. Read the Book of Mormon.
Read it every day. See the difference it makes in your life. The change
in your attitude and countenance. Remember, righteous habits are hard to
form and easy to break. Evil habits are easy to form and hard to break.
I love you so, so much! Do your best and try your hardest! In the name
of Jesus Christ, Amen.
-Elder Trezise
