Hello family!!! This week was super fun! We started out by having our District Councils on Tuesday and Wednesday, both of which were amazing. The Zone is changing a lot this transfer and it was sad to say bye to a lot of people. Tuesday night and most of the day Wednesday we had a Spanish Elder straight out of the MTC with us. His name is Elder Fisher, and he was a ton of fun to have. I hope we made a good impact on him. Elder Manu and I felt honored to have the chance to be his first impression. On Thursday we got our third companion (we are in a trio now). His name is Elder Brown, he's from Texas, and honestly, he's a blast. He's into all the same stuff that I'm into, and our personalities click, so all 3 of us are having a ton of fun and finding an AWESOME amount of success.

You know, I have been praying and thinking about what to talk about, and I haven't received any specific promptings. But something that has been on my mind a lot recently is the power of sacrifice. There is a quote that I love, which says, "A religion that does not require the sacrifice of all things never has power sufficient to produce the faith necessary unto life and salvation." And I know I've probably shared this quote in a past email, but I continue to think about it every day, and feel it is important to stress it to you all. This religion requires sacrifice. Sacrifice of time, energy, resources, and sacrifices of the things we love. Because that's the way that God works. God sacrificed His Only Begotten Son. Christ sacrificed Himself. There is a great amount of power in sacrifice. I think of the sacrifices that Bishops have to make, constantly worrying about those they are assigned to serve. I think of the sacrifices of Mission Presidents. Leaving home for 3 years to live somewhere and do something they have never done before. These sacrifices are what make us stronger. When we learn to let go of what we love, we truly find out what matters most.

There was a point of my mission where I was really struggling with something. Specifically letting go of something that I cared a lot about. But a quote by President Monson is what helped me the most. "The greatest decision I ever made in my life was to give up something I dearly loved to the God I loved even more. He has never forgotten me for it." The thing I was struggling with wasn't necessarily bad, or evil. But it wasn't where God needed my focus to be. Do you feel alone sometimes? Do you feel sad, or anxious, or angry? Is each day a struggle? I invite you to take a look at your life, and see what things are causing that. Because I can honestly say that ever since the decision and the actions required to give that thing up, I am happier. I feel more fulfilled. I have the Spirit stronger in my life. And I know that God appreciates the sacrifices that we make, and rewards us back tenfold with blessings we could never imagine. I love you all so much. I am so grateful for the sacrifice my parents are making to have me be out here. This decision has changed my entire life. I am a different man than I was, and I am so grateful for the sacrifices you all made as I grew up, to teach me the importance of this Gospel. You ALL had much more of an impact than you realize. I love you and pray for you! Keep pushing! Keep trying! In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
