I got to talk to Elder Trezise a few times today - he also called and was able to speak with Michael, Aly, Sam, Eli and Fraser. It was so cool! Here is his email for the week:
Ammon is an awesome area. We have having a ton of
success. But I'd be lying if I said I didn't miss Shelley. Anyway, I'm
sad I'm missing all the fun at home with Michael and Allie and the boys.
I wish I could talk to y'all. If there's ever a time I can skype and
they're there let me know.
Anyway, this week was really good. We
had some awesome lessons and found a new person to teach, and had more
people show up to church than we thought! So life is great! I love being
out here, and am enjoying every second. I had to give a training in two
different district councils this week, and then another training in
zone council on Wednesday. So that's fun.
Anyway, I don't
know what type of spiritual thought to put, haha. It's been a crazy
week. My zone is awesome, but there are a few struggles. And what I was
planning on giving a training on this week is about staying positive
through discouragement. I know life gets hard some times, I know that
it's hard. Trust me, I know. I am out here every day, getting rejected
over and over again, but it's okay. I'm happier than ever. And I KNOW
that the reason I am is because I trust in the Lord's blessings. As
Elder Holland said, "Don't give up, don't you quit. You keep walking.
You keep trying. There is help and happiness ahead. A lot of it. Some
blessings come soon. Some come late. And some don't come till heaven.
But for those who embrace and rely upon the Atonement of Jesus Christ,
they come."
I know that life gets hard, but I testify that
our trials come for a reason. We need to learn, we need to grow, and we
need to choose to return to God. Because in the end it is our choice. I
promise you that this Gospel is true. I know it is. Without a doubt. It
is true. And I promise you that if you trust in Christ, and rely upon
the Atonement, all of our trials will be lighter, all of our pains will
be eased. And the dark times and sad times in our lives will fade. I
love this Gospel, but more importantly than anything else, I know that
Christ is our Savior, and that He is struggling with us. He knows my
pains, knows your pains, knows each of us. He can help us. Please let
Him in. Please live worthy. Please read your scriptures, pray often, and
go to church. I'm not asking you because it's "what you're supposed to
do." I'm begging you to do these things because I know the joy it
brings. My trials are non existent. I love my life, and I am so, so
happy. And that is because I have forged a close relationship with my
Savior. And I have done that through constant, daily study of the
scriptures, for hours at a time. I have done that from getting on my
knees and praying out loud to God roughly 20 times a day. I have done
that from going to 6 hours of Church every Sunday. These things bring us
joy. Not just happiness, but lasting, eternal joy. I promise they do.
Please do them. In the name of Jesus Christ, amen.
-Elder Trezise
