Elder Smith, Elder Banks and Elder Trezise in front of the Idaho Falls Temple

Elder Trezise and his MTC companion

Easter Eggs

Here is the email for the week:

Elder Rich is Elder Smith's new companion and he is the nicest guy I've ever met. He's from AZ also, and he's awesome. I'm sorry things are hard with the boys right now. Xan says he's addicted to smash bros, haha. I hope things get better with them. Jayce and I message each other back and forth and things are going good. I think it'll be easier when I can talk to him in person. Yeah, Grady and I email each other every so often. He told me time flies, and I believe it. It's crazy how fast it goes.

Okay, so I guess I have to send a spiritual thought. Just kidding, haha, I love sending scriptures. Today I figured I'd send one I just read really recently. I am in the war chapters, and I have a new found love for them. Moroni is awesome, and very inspiring. Some scriptures I've loved and found inspiration from in here is, Alma 48, 17, "Yea, verily I say unto you, if all men had been, and were, and ever would be, like unto Moroni, behold, the very powers of hell would have been shaken forever; yea, the devil would have never have power over the hearts of the children of men." Moroni sets an amazing example for us of imperfect righteousness. Often times, when we strive to be like the Savior we get discouraged. He is perfect, and we are not. How can we be like Him? We can't, but we can strive our best to be like him. But people usually get discouraged by trying to be like a perfect being. So I have been looking for imperfect people, who we can follow also. Types of Christ. And Moroni is a good example. Brave, courageous, and kind. He is merciful and just. He is smart and capable. Another scripture I love from these chapters is Alma 53, 20-21. It says, when talking about the Stripling Warriors, "And they were all young men, and they were exceedingly valiant for courage, and also for strength and activity; but behold, this was not all - they were men who were true at all times in whatsoever thing they were entrusted. Yeah, they were men of truth and soberness, for they had been taught to keep the commandments of God, and to walk uprightly before Him." One thing I loved in the second verse is 'taught to keep the commandments of God and walk uprightly before Him.' They had been taught. Later on, they give credit to their mothers for their faith. They had influences in their lives that molded and shaped them into the valiant sons of God they were. They didn't get to where they were by themselves. Another thing I loved, the thing I loved the most in these verses was, "They were men who were true at all times in whatsoever thing they were entrusted." What an amazing statement. These young deacons, teachers, and priests were true to whatever they were entrusted. They were honest and faithful to the end. "Each one devoted to give their all to the cause of Zion, and bound by covenant to stand close together and lift where you stand." -Elder Utchdorf. They stood together, bound together, brothers in God, and helped each other. Each one did their best because each one encouraged each other to do their best. We need to be the example to our fellow brothers and sisters. If we all helped each other, imagine the good that would be done. I am trying my best to be an example to you all, and I hope you all know you are an amazing example to me. I strive to be more like each of you daily, and emulate the attributes of Christ that you each hold. Love y'all!
-Elder Trezise
